SPRINGVILLE — A 19-year-old man drowned at a park on Sunday afternoon, officials confirmed Monday.
Emergency dispatchers received a call of a reported drowning at Wayne Bartholomew Family Park, 1090 South 2900 East, around 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Springville police said in a Facebook post. A 19-year-old man was pulled out of the water by his friends. A nurse practitioner was at the park at the time and administered CPR to the man.
Crews arrived shortly thereafter and took over the CPR efforts. “(Medics) tried for 15 minutes to revive the young man but were unsuccessful,” police said.
Officials said they will not be releasing the name of the man at this time “in order to let the family grieve in private.”
"This is a heartbreaking incident for his family, his friends that were there with him, and to everyone at the park yesterday," Springville police said on Facebook. "No family should have to bury a child and our thoughts and prayers are with this young man's family."
