THE NEWSROOM — Working in a newsroom is a tough job.
The pace and hours can be gruelling, and almost everyone in the newsroom is basically on call 24 hours a day in one way or another. It’s a necessary evil because you never know what a news day will bring.
Of the reporters, anchors, editors, photographers, and writers I’ve worked with who’ve made a career out of local news, the vast majority do it because they love it. It’s a true labor of love through all the inconvenient and difficult lumps and bumps.
But then there’s Chad Myers, a CNN meteorologist and severe weather expert.
Sure Myers shows up for his job and does what’s required, but there’s never a smile on his face and always a grumpy quip in his heart. Additionally, nothing is sacred to his acerbic tongue.
In this video supercut from "The John Oliver Show," Myers has something crabby to say from topics such as his marriage all the way to the types of clothes he was forced to wear on a cold, stormy day.
And it’s hilarious.
The most ill-tempered thing that Myers says involves star anchor and reporter Anderson Cooper, and that few seconds alone is worth the watch.
Myers has been working for CNN since 1999, so even though he appears to hate everyone and everything, including his job, he must be doing something right.
