SALT LAKE CITY — Police have identified a man who died Thursday after hitting an SUV and then crashing into another car a short time later.
Philip Naclerio, 57, died in the crash that took place at 1815 S. 4650 West about 4:45 p.m. Thursday, Salt Lake police said in a tweet.
Police were unsure Thursday whether a medical episode, intoxication or another reason factored into Naclerio’s death.
He was driving a black truck when he hit an SUV and then drove off, according to Salt Lake Police Lt. Jenn Diederich. The SUV driver confronted him after finding him a short time later in a nearby parking lot, she said.
The SUV driver later told police Naclerio was not acting right, and the SUV driver attempted to take his keys away. But Naclerio drove off over a grassy area and started driving northbound on 4650 West, and then crashed into a parked, unattached semitrailer at 1815 S. 4650 West, Diederich said.
Police were still investigating the crash as of Thursday evening, Diederich said. The SUV driver was not injured.
