SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- An advocacy group for off-road recreational vehicles plans to fight the Bureau of Land Management's plan to restrict driving in a popular area in Wayne County.
The Utah Shared Access Alliance says the BLM plan makes it hard for recreational drivers to want to cooperate with the federal agency. The group thinks calls for designated routes and reduced open areas is too restrictive.
The new restrictions are expected to be introduced this fall.
The BLM said this summer that off-road restrictions are necessary because of two imperiled species of cactus.
Environmentalists say the vehicles are damaging plants and causing erosion.
