WEST JORDAN — A 2-year-old boy was flown to a hospital in a medical helicopter after being hit by a car on Friday evening, officials confirmed.
The boy's condition has stabilized and he is expected to make a full recovery, according to West Jordan Police Department spokeswoman Jennifer Worthen.
The incident was first reported about 7 p.m. near 1833 W. 7600 South in West Jordan, according to Salt Lake Valley Emergency Communications Center dispatchers.
The incident appeared to have been an accident, but police were still investigating, Worthen said. A passenger car was involved, she added. Worthen did not provide any other details about the crash.
The boy initially was transported in an ambulance to Intermountain Medical Center, but his condition worsened en route, and a medical helicopter was called out to fly him to Primary Children's Hospital, Worthen said.
Additional information about the crash and the child’s injuries was not available Friday evening.
