SALT LAKE CITY — Three people were arrested after police say they robbed random people at gunpoint as they were walking around downtown Salt Lake City, Wednesday night.
David Montoya, 20, Cameron Dallas, 18, and Kira Smith, 18, have all been booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on investigation of aggravated robbery.
Montoya, Dallas and Smith drove around in a car and robbed people near 400 South and 200 East beginning around 10:15 p.m., said Salt Lake police spokesman Scott Smalley.
Victims told police the trio pulled up next to them while they were walking alone, pointed a gun at them and demanded their electronics, groceries, or whatever they had on hand, before driving away.
The last victim waved down an officer and provided a detailed description of the robbers. A short time later police stopped a car containing Montoya, Dallas and Smith at 350 S. State.
All three were taken into custody without incident.
Police say if you find yourself in a similar situation, comply with the person demanding food or money, and call police immediately.
In addition to the robbery, Dallas was also arrested on investigation of drug possession.
