NEPHI — A 20-year-old man from Michigan died early Saturday after a crash on Interstate 15 near Nephi, according to Utah Highway Patrol.

The crash took place at about 6:27 a.m. Saturday near mile marker 214 on the highway, about 10 miles southwest of Nephi.

The man who died, who was not identified, was driving a 2012 Chevrolet Camaro when he rear-ended a 2017 Kenworth semitrailer in the right lane, UHP said.

The Camaro got stuck underneath the back of the semitrailer, and the impact killed the driver. The truck driver was not injured, and there were no other people in either vehicle.

UHP said that the Camaro may have been traveling at a high speed, which may have contributed to the crash.
