Do you have $7,000 for your children to play sports? Some little league sports can, amazingly, exceed that cost.

Youth hockey season is over and baseball's coming to a close, so parents now are signing their children up for soccer.

Utah Youth Soccer Association President Scott Maxfield said, "We have a noncompetitive type of situation where kids can just play."

Maxfield says there are more competitive leagues, but they will cost more money. "One of the other costs that is incurred has to do with the specialty training that these athletes receive within the clubs," he said.

Maxfield says some leagues will have a tournament every weekend with lots of travel. Some tournaments will be out of state. He says parents should shop for less competitive leagues if they want to save money.
