SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A spokeswoman for Congressman Jason Chaffetz says he will return to Utah Tuesday to undergo gallbladder surgery.
Spokeswoman M.J. Henshaw said the 48-year-old Republican representative from Utah will have the procedure done in Salt Lake City so he can recover at home.
She says he is expected to recuperate for about seven days.
Henshaw declined to say why the surgery is necessary, but said he is expected to make a full recovery.
Chaffetz is chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. Henshaw says he missed a committee hearing in Washington Tuesday after being told he needed the operation the night before, but isn't expected to miss any other major events during his recovery period.
