(KSL News) -- Fire crews from Layton City and the Forest Service are fighting a fire in the Adams Canyon area, just east of Highway 89.

The fire has burned around 10 acres, but crews hope to have it contained later today. A helicopter is helping put out the flames, as ground crews dig lines around the fire to contain it.

Foot crews were sent in after the Layton Fire Department realized they couldn't get their equipment up the mountain far enough to fight the fire.

Battl. Chief Robert Adams, Layton City Fire Dept.: "It's also out of reach of our engines. It's far up the mountain where we can't get a hose line to it."

Several residents told the fire department that lightning started the fire, but investigators will look into the cause.
