(KSL News) With gas prices so high, demand for compressed natural gas, or CNG, vehicles is soaring in Utah.
The reason, it only costs 63.8 cents a gallon. That adds up to about $5 a tank.
Utah has the cheapest prices in the nation because Questar Gas has a federal tax credit that allows it to offer CNG cheaper than other gas companies. Currently Utah has 91 CNG stations, 20 open to the public.
Aside from fleet vehicles, you can't buy any new CNG vehicles in Utah, yet. Honda has a version it will sell only to California and New York. But since demand is so high here, it's looking to offer it to Utah as well.
