PROVO, Utah (AP) -- A 4th District judge has expanded a jury pool to find four unbiased citizens to hear the trial of Betty Perry.
Perry is accused of allowing her lawn to die in violation of an Orem city ordinance and resisting arrest when an officer tried to cite her. The charges are class B misdemeanors.
The case drew international headlines and sympathy for the 70-year-old Perry.
A two-day trial is set for February.
Judge John Backlund agreed with attorneys on both sides that case publicity will make it tough to seat a jury. At a hearing Monday, he expanded the pool from 20 people to more than 100.
