SALT LAKE CITY — Police evacuated the Matheson Courthouse Friday morning after finding a suspicious package nearby. Turns out the bag was full of clothes and personal items.
Around 10:30 a.m., courthouse security reported that they had found a backpack between the Wells Fargo parking garage and an electrical box next to the courthouse.
Neither the courthouse nor police had received any threatening calls, but because of the proximity of the parking structure to the courthouse, they took extra precautions during their investigation.
Authorities evacuated the courthouse and the parking garage, then shutdown the streets. Once the bomb squad came in and blew up the package, things went back to normal.
