SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- The first youth to die from the flu in Utah this season has been reported.
The Utah Department of Health released the information. However, there were NO details about the death, except the fact the child is under 18.
A department spokesman says they decided NOT to release any information about the victim, including where the child lived.
Despite the death, health officials say the flu season is winding down in Utah. They say student absenteeism and doctor visits have both dropped below points where health officials keep track.
So far, nearly four-hundred Utahns have been hospitalized with flu-like symptoms. Most of them had Type A influenza and high-risk factors that made them more vulnerable.
