ST. GEORGE, Utah (AP) -- The city of St. George says it is working to repair flood damage that it blames for a raised arsenic level in the public drinking water supply.
The city issued a statement taking responsibility for the violation of a federal drinking water standard and declaring that the arsenic readings didn't constitute an emergency.
The Spectrum of St. George reports the violation was caused by damage to a water transmission line during flooding Dec. 22.
The city statement said residents didn't need to find alternate water supplies like bottled water.
But it says people with specific health concerns could contact their physicians.
