Utah Jazz legend Darrell Griffith is back in Salt Lake City for the big reveal.

Griffith traveled from his home in Louisville to take part in a public fan fest that will take place on the southeast plaza outside EnergySolutions Arena on Monday, Aug. 16 at 7 p.m.

Al Jefferson, C.J. Miles, Paul Millsap and Ronnie Price will model the team's new uniforms that will be unveiled at the event while Griffith will be on hand to sign autographs.

Before taking part in fan fest, the "Golden Griff" sat down with Jeremiah Jensen for a live interview on SportsBeat Sunday.

His return to Utah brings back so many great memories.

"Your mind goes into rewind when you've seen some things that you've done." he said. "It's a lot of good memories here, a lot of good memories."

Nicknamed the "Golden Griff" by another Jazz legend, Hot Rod Hundley, Griffith played 10 years in Utah. He was the 1981 NBA Rookie of the Year but Griffith remembers how tough the losing was during his first three years with the club.

"My first year was my hardest year in sports." said Griffith. "Coming off a national championship team you win 33 games and lose 3. You come to the Utah Jazz and you win 20. The whole transition was tough for me."

It wasn't long before Griffith and the Jazz became a winner. During the 1983-84 NBA Season Griffith set an NBA record for three pointers made in a season. He also helped lead the franchise to its first division title, playoff berth, and playoff series victory.

His best season was in 1984-85 when he broke his own NBA three point record, averaged a career high 23 points per game and helped the Jazz shock the Houston Rockets in the first round of the playoffs.

Darrell Griffith is still the fourth leading scorer in franchise history. He trails only John Stockton, Karl Malone and Mark Eaton in minutes played, games played and seasons played in a Jazz uniform.

His number was retired by the Jazz on December 4, 1993. He now lives in Louisville where he owns his own telecommunications company and is also a special assistant to the University of Louisville.

Darrell appreciates that the franchise and the fans still hold him in such high regard.

"I appreciate it." He said during his interview on SportsBeat. "I gave it my all when I was here. My whole purpose was to win. We never did get a chance to win the big one but I gave it 110 percent. I hope I laid the groundwork for other players to take over from there."

Darrell also talked about his relationship with Frank Layden and Larry Miller. He also shared his memories of a young John Stockton and Karl Malone. You can hear those comments by watching the video above.
