PROVO -- A woman was shot during a scuffle at a Provo restaurant early Saturday morning.
Police say a man and a woman were arguing at Sweet's Island Restaurant at 700 W. Columbia Lane just after 3 a.m. Witnesses say another man, Frank Reed, approached the pair, pulled out a handgun and struck the other man in the face with the weapon.
The men began to wrestle for control of the gun when the gun fired, striking the woman in the thigh. She was taken to a hospital and released a short time later.
Police say Reed took off before officers arrived, but later turned himself in. He was booked into the Utah County Jail on suspicion of aggravated assault with a firearm and illegal possession of a firearm.
Police say Reed is an acquaintance of the woman who was shot.
