SALT LAKE CITY -- A judge will decide later this month if dash-cam video showing the arrest of a former Utah state senator will be made public, the Salt Lake Tribune reports.

Sheldon Killpack is facing DUI charges stemming from that arrest, which happened in January in Salt Lake City.

In February the State Records Committee ruled the video -- and a Utah Highway Patrol report related to the incident -- are public records and should be released.

However, representatives for the Department of Public Safety say doing so could compromise their investigation.

A judge will hear arguments from both sides May 17 and make a ruling.
