WHOVILLE — There is no shortage of fun holiday activities for families in Utah. Whether you're interested in parades, train rides, cookie decorating, light displays or Santa encounters, you have plenty of options. Here’s a quick introduction to some of the events you may want to check out.

European Christmas Market at Zermatt Resort
This free event offers your family the opportunity to experience a European-style holiday in beautiful Midway, which has a distinctly Swiss influence. In addition to enjoying the vendors and decorations, you can pay a small fee for activities such as cookie decorating, building gingerbread houses, candle dipping and Räbeliechtli carving.
Date: Dec. 13-14

Santa Skis Free at Snowbird
Skiers and snowboarders can celebrate the season by joining the Santa squad at Snowbird on Dec. 22. The first 75 people who register at the activity center starting at 9 a.m. will get a free ride on the Santa Tram. Here’s the catch — you need to be dressed as Santa, Mrs. Claus or an elf.
Once the free riders have been registered, they’ll gather for a quick group photo and then hop on the tram to ski or snowboard.

Christmas Carol Service at the Cathedral of the Madeleine
This annual tradition includes beloved music of the Advent and Christmas seasons, including choral works and traditional carols. It’s easy to find peace and contemplation in the stunning cathedral. There are no passes required for this popular event, but be sure to arrive early if you’d like a good seat.

Christmas Village in Ogden
Ogden’s downtown area has transformed into a fun mix of activities and North Pole cottages. Kids can board the Polar Express Train, which takes them on a ride through the village. Santa oversees all the hubbub from his castle, and children can visit with him one-on-one for $5 (all proceeds benefit the Christmas Village).

Breakfast with Santa at Boondocks
Both of the state’s Boondocks locations are hosting these breakfasts in December. Bring the family for an all-you-can-eat meal, then the chance to meet with Santa Claus. For an extra fee, you can also get a pass with arcade credit and three hours of unlimited attractions such as go-karts, laser tag, miniature golf, and the XD Dark Ride.
Date: Dec. 14 and 21 (varies by location)
Location: Boondocks in Draper or Kaysville
Cost: $14 per person for breakfast and Santa, $21 if adding attractions and games
Santa’s Brunch at Little America
Held in Little America’s Grand Ballroom, this delicious brunch features something for everyone. There are carving stations, seafood dishes, salads, fruit platters, desserts and plenty of other seasonal favorites. Plus, Santa Claus is a constant presence in the dining area, so children can meet with him and get photos.
If you have a group of 12 or more, it’s best to call ahead for a reservation. Otherwise, walk-ins are welcome. The event starts at 10 a.m. and the last guests are seated at 1:30 p.m.

Cost: $64 for adults, $32 for children 5-10, and free for children 4 and under
