COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS — Acting on a tip, police Wednesday located and arrested a man suspected of robbing a Rite Aid store over the weekend.

Nathan Matthew Curtis, 23, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of aggravated robbery.

Police say Curtis walked into Rite Aid, 2378 E. Fort Union Blvd., and robbed the cashier at knife point Sunday. He left the area in a vehicle driven by another person, according to witnesses.

A Cottonwood Heights police detective recognized that the description of the man from that incident matched that of a suspect in another case he was working, said Cottonwood Heights Police Sgt. Corbett Ford. Using store surveillance video, the detective was able to identify Curtis, Ford said.

On Wednesday, police received a tip that Curtis and his accomplice would be back in the Cottonwood Heights area. The detective spotted him in the same vehicle allegedly used in the weekend robbery and arrested him, Ford said. The 21-year-old driver was not arrested, but possible charges will be screened against him, Ford said.

Court records show Curtis has no other significant criminal history in Utah.
