PARK CITY — A Park City man was charged Friday with possessing child sex abuse material. And investigators say there is evidence he may have been trying to secretly film children in the Park City area.

Jayce John Cade Whiting, 33, is charged in 3rd District Court with sexual exploitation of a minor, a second-degree felony.

On April 2, the Summit County Sheriff's Office received a cyber-tip from the Internet Crimes Against Children data system that suspected child sex abuse material had been downloaded onto Whiting's phone, according to charging documents.

Investigators then applied for a search warrant for the cloud account associated with Whiting's phone.

"Among the contents of the account, they observed several videos that appeared to be attempted voyeurism of children at Park City businesses," the charges allege.

The arresting officer in the case further stated in a police booking affidavit, "I recognized two locations in the videos as being local Park City businesses. One of the businesses has been determined to be Whiting's former place of employment."

A search warrant was served at Whiting's home on Thursday where he was arrested after he "attempted to leave out the back door" and was stopped by agents from the Internet Crimes Against Children task force who had surrounded the residence.

As of Friday, investigators were still gathering information from the cellphones seized from Whiting's residence.
