OREM — Firefighters responded to a devastating house fire in Orem Thursday morning.
The fire started at about 5:50 am and quickly consumed the house, located at 973 South and 190 West. Eight people escaped the home safely. The family's dog was originally thought to have died in the fire, but ultimately survived.
One family member said she was sleeping in her room when the fire started and has minor burns on her arm.
Four agencies responded to the scene, including 20 firefighters and four ladder trucks. The total damage is unknown at this time, but the property's roof collapsed.
