YOSEMITE, Calif. — Not everyone is blessed with the gift of a good relationship with the great outdoors.
There are those who understand and connect with nature just by being in it. Nature makes them feel invigorated and at peace. Then there are those who try to commune with nature only to find they are the only one in their party to stumble into poison ivy.
If you are one of the latter, I’m going to do you a solid favor with Have You Seen This? today by helping you feel what those nature communers feel, all from the comfort of your own home.
Project Yosemite was started by Colin Delehanty and Sheldon Neill in 2012 after they spent the night on Half Dome in Yosemite National Park to take time-lapse video.
“Being on Half Dome that night felt like being on another planet, a smooth granite surface under our feet and endless space spinning overhead,” the pair said on their website. “We decided to team up and document the experience together for others to see.”
The Project Yosemite pair packed about 70 pounds of camera equipment each and hiked more than 200 miles to places near and far in Yosemite to capture the park in awe-inspiring and jaw-dropping beauty.
Without meaning to sound twee or trite, when I watched the videos I wanted to not only hike and breathe in crisp, piney air, but I felt inspired to dance, sing and create something as well.
And that’s how I think natural nature communers must feel.
So Messrs. Delehanty and Neill, your goal to “inspire others through our work like many others have done for us” has been accomplished at least once today.
