Taylorsville police are looking for three people involved in a robbery and kidnapping that started with an Internet-arranged date.

Detective Shannon Bennett says the victim thought he was meeting a woman at her apartment Saturday night. When he showed up at her apartment, three men armed with a knife and a Taser threatened him and took his wallet. Two of the men then drove him to a 7-Eleven near 4700 South Redwood Road to make an ATM withdrawal. When he got into the store, the victim locked the doors and called to the clerk for help.

Police say one of the suspects tried to get into the store but couldn't. That's when he and the other man fled.

Police arrested 20-year-old Monroe William Davis. They're looking for two other men and the woman who had arranged the date. The male suspects are believed to be affiliated with some violent gangs.

Bennett says anyone arranging a date over the Internet needs to take precautions. He says people should make sure the first meeting is in a public place and that they don't give out too much personal information. It's also a good idea to tell someone where you're going.
