SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Authorities in Utah say a registered sex offender from Idaho has been arrested for repeatedly having sex with a 14-year-old runaway.
Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office documents say 51-year old Eugene Mark Peters was arrested Monday. The girl was also found with him. She had been reported missing in Idaho.
Authorities say the girl told them she met Peters 11 months ago, and he agreed to take her from Idaho to Utah then on to Pennsylvania. He eventually asked her to marry him. She claimed they had sex more than 60 times beginning last August.
Authorities did not release the girl's name or hometown. It wasn't immediately clear if Peters had an attorney. He was held on suspicion of rape, sodomy and sexual abuse.
