VANCOUVER -- Patriotic in their red white and blue gear, freestyle aerialists Jaret "Speedy" Peterson and Jana Lindsey, along with bobsledder Bill Schuffenhauer, are getting excited.
"It's wonderful to finally be up here," Lindsey said. "We've been waiting for this for so long. To be here is great."
None of them know what to expect during the big show.
"I always compare everything to the Salt Lake Olympics. It was by far the best Olympics ever," Schuffenhauer said.
But don't ask Peterson what he thinks about what they have to wear marching in.
"We look hideous. We look like a bunch of jockeys that are blown up, and it's bad. It's bad," Peterson said.
Schuffenhauer doesn't agree. Over a year ago, he was asked to consult on the wardrobe the athletes will be wearing.
"They're very ‘Ralph Lauren,' very American. It shows that this is an American team that is walking down there," he said.
Lindsey and her teammates will be making another fashion statement.
"Our girls' team, the four girls, went on Monday before we left to get a manicure in Park City to get some patriotic Olympic spirit for opening ceremonies," she said.
One more thing that bothers Peterson: this is the first opening ceremonies that will be held indoors.
"We have like seven layers of clothes on, and it's inside were going to be sweating like crazy. I hope my makeup doesn't run," he joked.
The opening ceremony begins at 8 p.m. MST. You can watch it on KSL Channel 5.
