Alex Cabrero ReportingA horrible accident in an Orem neighborhood today and now a seven-month old baby is fighting to live at Primary Children's Hospital.

Paramedics were able to get his little heart beating, but his lungs are having a hard time trying to take a breath and he's still in critical condition tonight.

It happened so fast, people who live in the Orem neighborhood didn't even know it did happen. Just after 11:00, the seven-month old boy crawled out of his house and made his way to his family's wading pool in their backyard.

Maybe he saw the three other children playing in it just a few minutes before, and it looked like fun. Who can blame him? Unfortunately, it wasn't any fun at all.

He was able to get into the wading pool, where just 10 inches of water was enough to keep him under. He couldn't get out until his mother saw him, snatched him up as fast as she could, and rushed him to the hospital.

Doug Edwards, Orem Police Dept.: "Anybody who has small children knows you can be on a three minute phone conversation and they can get into all kinds of trouble in that short period of time. So we just wish the family well and hope things turn out well for the little boy."
