(KSL News) -- It's not every day that the governor shows up at your birthday party, but today he did! The governor and Mrs. Huntsman went to Clearfield to pay a visit and bring a gift to three-year-old Taylee Hill.

The visit was prompted by the fact that Taylee's dad is currently in Afghanistan and obviously would miss the party. Taylee's mom, Carissa, told the governor that she was going to call her husband, Sgt. Darren Hill, so that the birthday girl could talk to her dad. The governor said hello, too.

Gov. Huntsman: "So here we are, and I'm only too happy to stand in for you! You have a great family. And thank for serving our state and our nation in Afghanistan. We're mighty grateful to you."

The governor learned about Taylee's party while hosting a dinner for military wives recently at the Governor's Mansion.
