(Deseret Morning News) Washington County Sheriff's deputies are investigating the murder of a man whose body was found "in the middle of nowhere," about three miles from the Utah-Arizona border.

The body was found Sunday afternoon by a couple out collecting bottles on Highway 91 near the Utah-Arizona border.

Investigators describe the body as a light-skinned Hispanic man with tattoos in his mid-20s.

The body was found in an area known as Utah Hill, 10 miles from Beaver Dam, Arizona.

Detectives believe the man was fatally shot and then dumped in the desert. They also say they have been able to collect evidence from the crime scene that could help them identify and arrest a killer.

The victim's body is now undergoing an autopsy.
