SALT LAKE CITY -- A truck hit a woman who was jaywalking on a busy Salt Lake City street Tuesday night.
Police say the woman was talking with friends on the sidewalk at North Temple and 800 West. The woman then pulled up the hood on her sweatshirt and started walking in the middle of the street.
Investigators say it appears the woman was in the wrong place at the wrong time, and the driver did not even see her.
"He's very shaken up," said Salt Lake City police Lt. Melody Gray. "Any time a pedestrian is hit, the driver of the vehicle is always very traumatized by the event. Regardless of whose fault it is, they feel responsible."
The woman had serious head injuries when she was taken to the hospital.
