VERNAL -- A Uintah County man has pleaded guilty to attempted murder for beating a pregnant girl in an attempt to get her to miscarry.

The Salt Lake Tribune reports Arron Harrison, 21, also plead guilty to three unrelated felony charges this week. He will be sentenced next month and could get up to 30 years in prison.

A 17-year-old Naples girl paid Harrison $150 in May to help her miscarry. She says her boyfriend threatened a breakup if she didn't get rid of the child. She gave birth to a healthy baby last month. She pleaded no contest to charges related to the crime.

The custody status of the girl's baby is pending.
