(KSL News) Starting January 1st sales tax on unprepared food goes down two percent, but it isn't that simple.

Retailers are dealing with several headaches, specifically where the tax goes down and what stays the same.

For instance, the tax on block ice stays the same, but the tax on crushed ice goes down since it can be used in a drink.

In addition all deli food will remain at the previous tax rate because it is considered "prepared."
