PRICE, Utah (AP) -- A lightning strike has sent a Price woman to the hospital and killed her dog.

Carbon County sheriff's deputies say the lightning hit a large tree in her backyard Friday night and traveled along a metal wire strung between several trees.
The medium-sized dog's metal leash was tied to the wire, and the charge killed him when it reached his metal collar.
Deputies think the 52-year-old woman received a residual shock when she touched the animal.
She was taken to Castleview Hospital, where she was listed in fair condition.
Her name was not released.
