SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Salt Lake County is getting more than $1 million in federal grants to help families avoid losing their homes or quickly find new ones.
The money comes from the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Salt Lake County Mayor Peter Corroon says a little bit of financial assistance can be the difference for families hit hard by the recession.
Payments from the grants will not be given directly to households. Instead, the money will go to third parties like landlords or utilities.
The county is also getting another $658,000 for infrastructure improvements.
