HYRUM, Utah (AP) -- Workers at the JBS-Swift plant in Hyrum have voted to ratify their first union contract.

There are more than 1,100 workers at the northern Utah JBS-Swift Beef Plant, known locally as the E.A. Miller Plant, who are part of the United Food and Commercial Workers Local 711.

More than 10,000 JBS-Swift workers nationwide belong to United Food and Commercial Workers.

The new three-year contract includes regular wage increases, affordable family health coverage, job advancement opportunities and a clause that means workers will no longer have to pay out-of-pocket for their work equipment, tools and work clothes.
