CLEARFIELD -- A police officer was injured after a chase through several Davis County cities.
Sgt. Lee Potts said the chase began Sunday afternoon just as he was ending his shift. He spotted a car getting off the freeway, driving erratically.
"I pulled up to investigate and try to find out what was going on," he told KSL Newsradio. "I tried to initiate a traffic stop on the suspect's car. At that time, the driver made some comments, made a U-turn in front of me..."
Asked what the suspect allegedly said, Potts replied: "He said, 'You wanna go? Let's go!'"
The suspect then led police on a chase from Clearfield into Sunset and Clinton. The chase ended when the suspect tried to avoid road spikes, Potts said, slamming head-on into a Davis County Sheriff's deputy patrol car.
"There was a crash there. The deputy in the vehicle has some knee problems, some knee injuries," Potts said.
The suspect tried to run and was tackled by police. Potts said 38-year-old Brett Douglas Poll was booked into the Davis County Jail on investigation of aggravated assault on a peace officer, reckless driving and evading arrest.
