Jed Boal Reporting Police haven't given up their search for the driver.
The family still hopes someone will step up and take responsibility for what they did.
A year ago today, 80-year-old Robert Elbel was crossing the street at 3450 S. Highland Drive when he was hit by a car and killed.
No solid leads, but a 10-thousand dollar reward is up for grabs.
Last December 1st, crime scene investigators tried to come up with clues in the death of Robert Elbel. That night still haunts the victim's family.
Ruth Vayo, victim's daughter: "We kind of realize that no one is going to admit they did it. So, we hope that someone who knows what happened will come forward."
Elbel had just stepped off a bus around 3450 S. Highland Drive and was crossing the street when a southbound car or truck hit him.
Elbel was coming home from the University of Utah, where he worked as a volunteer research professor in entomology.
Witnesses said the driver must have known he hit someone because the driver stopped briefly, looked at Elbel and then took off.
Elbel was not in a designated crosswalk.
Ruth Vayo: "You think about it every day. You kind of drive down the street and wonder if one of those people could be the one."
Two weeks after the incident police released this surveillance video from the Home Depot parking lot just around the corner from the crash.
Minutes after the crash the video shows damage to the truck's front end. Investigators say someone got out of the truck, looked at the damage, made a gesture of disbelief, got back in a drove away.
That lead went nowhere, and was never ruled out.
A year ago, Meadow Gold Dairy put up a ten thousand dollar reward. They re-activated that reward today, and plan on having a follow-up press conference on Monday.
