SPRINGVILLE -- A railroad worker found a box of bones in Springville Tuesday afternoon.

The worker noticed a cardboard box pushed under some sagebrush. Inside, there was what appeared to be a human skull and several other bones.

"We don't know if it's an antiquity that has been illegally dug up from a Native American site or if it is something more recent," said Springville police Lt. Dave Caron.

The Medical Examiner's Office is examining the bones and will determine if they are human and how old they are.

If they're fairly recent, it could become a crime investigation. If they're old, investigators will attempt to return them to where they came from.
