SALT LAKE CITY -- Utah has always been known as a young state, but the a new report shows the 18 and under population is booming like never before.
The annual Voices for Utah Children report shows that in 2007 close to 800,000 Utah residents were under the age of 18, and that by the year 2030 that number could grow to more than a million.
The report also shows a slight decrease in the number of children in the state living below the poverty level.
There is some bad news contained in the report, though. For the third year in a row, the number of teen pregnancies in the state went up, as did the number of teens with sexually transmitted diseases.
