SANDY -- A bad accident in Sandy sent two people to the hospital Sunday night.

Police say a Pontiac ran a red light at 8100 South and Highland Drive and slammed into an SUV. Crews had to cut the car open to get one of the passengers out.

Emergency crews also shut down Highland Drive for a short time while a medical helicopter landed.

Two people were taken to the hospital. We have no word on their conditions.

No one else was hurt.
