OREM -- An Orem man who pleaded guilty to murdering his father has been sentenced to 20 years to life in prison.
Michael Kirsch admitted to stabbing his father 31 times in June of last year. In March he took a plea deal with prosecutors, which spared him the death penalty.
Kirsch suffers from mental illness, which his lawyers claimed contributed to the crime; however, a psychiatric evaluation found his competency could be restored with medication.
