SOUTH JORDAN -- Several homes in a South Jordan neighborhood were evacuated Saturday night and roads were closed due to a police standoff.
Police say a man barricaded himself inside his home with a gun after an altercation with his family. The family got out safely and ran to a neighbor's house.
Soon after, police evacuated nearby homes and closed the area to traffic as a precaution.
They spent about five hours trying to contact the man but couldn't get a response. At about 4 a.m. Sunday, police entered the home and found the man dead of what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
