PARK CITY, Utah (AP) -- A snapshot of Park City's emissions -- everything from electricity use to airline fuel and beer fermentation -- shows more than 1 million tons of greenhouse gases were sent into the atmosphere in 2007.
The city's calculation of its carbon footprint is the first step in an effort to reduce emissions by 7 percent by 2012, based on 1990 levels.
The study examined emissions by city residents, tourists and businesses.
It found that 43 percent of emissions came from electricity use and 31 percent from airline travel. Another 14 percent was produced by cars and trucks and 11 percent came from natural gas and propane use.
