SALT LAKE CITY -- A Salt Lake City man is facing serious charges after a hit-and-run crash over the weekend.

It happened as a woman was walking her dog near 2100 South and 1200 East on Friday. Then, they entered a crosswalk.

"One car came up, stopped and allowed the pedestrian and the dog to pass," said Salt Lake City police Detective Dennis McGowan.

But a reported second car driven by 36-year-old Kenneth Jamison did not stop. McGowan says Jamison caused serious injuries to the woman and killed the dog.

"Witnesses at the scene saw a plate number on the white Subaru and notified officers as they responded," McGowan said.

Jamison was later arrested and is now facing charges of driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an injury accident. The victim is stabilized at the hospital.
