PLAIN CITY and COALVILLE -- A 4-year-old boy is critically injured after being hit by a tractor in Plain City Tuesday.

Weber County Sheriff's Lt. Matthew Bell said a man was giving his 2-year-old grandchild a ride on a small tractor in his backyard, near 3400 West and 2000 North in Plain City around 3:20 Tuesday afternoon.

"He was going to give the 4-year-old a ride. The 4-year-old walked over to the tractor and just got in the way of the tractor," Bell said.

Bell says it was a very small tractor. "Like a lawn tractor or just a little bit bigger than that," he explained.

The boy was in critical condition at Primary Children's Medical Center Tuesday night and is expected to recover.

Meanwhile, the Salt Lake Tribune reports authorities have released the name of the boy who was hit and killed by a car in Coalville Tuesday afternoon. He is 12-year-old Matthew Luchin.

Troopers say he rode through a stop sign at 100 South and 50 West, close to Interstate 80, and was hit by a car. Luchin died at the scene.
