OGDEN, Utah (AP) -- The Governor's Office of Economic Development has approved more than $153,000 in financial incentives for Great Salt Lake Mineral to increase employment at its facility.

Company spokesman Dave Hyams says the company already has added 20 employees.

Great Salt Lake Mineral mines sulfite of potash, salt and magnesium chloride using evaporation ponds. Sulfite of potash is a component in fertilizer.

Economic development office spokesman Michael Sullivan says the incentive money will be paid to the company over 10 years and as jobs are added.

The company is investing in more modern machinery and upgrades, which are creating new jobs. The company plans to add 50 jobs by the time an expansion program is complete.
