SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. nominated an automobile dealer to a seat on the Utah Board of Regents.

Huntsman called Brent L. Brown a champion of Utah's schools who has raised money for public schools and Utah Valley University.

Brown replaces Joel Wright.

Wright resigned last week after a board investigation found he urged a one-time candidate for president of Utah Valley University to improve his chances of selection by apologizing to Utah County Republicans.

The candidate, Ned C. Hill, was supposed to apologize because his wife ran for a seat in the Utah Legislature as a Democrat.

Brown, whose appointment is subject to confirmation by the Utah Senate, is the owner of Brent Brown Automotive Group, located in Provo and Orem.
