SALT LAKE CITY -- The budget may be tight for state agencies, but money was not a concern for law enforcement agencies wishing to honor late businessman Larry Miller.
The Salt Lake Tribune reports Utah Highway Patrol troopers served 117 hours collectively during Miller's funeral on Saturday.
Officials with the UHP said the troopers will all be paid regular wages or be given compensation hours at a cost of just over $2,300 to the agency.
UHP said the cost was justified as Miller was a "friend to law enforcement."
The UHP was not the only agency to provide officers at the funeral. Cottonwood Heights, Draper, Murray, Roy, Salt Lake County, South Salt Lake City and West Valley City also had officers there.
