OGDEN, Utah (AP) -- Faced with cuts in state funding, Weber State University is considering a cut in pay for adjunct instructors.
WSU spokesman John Kowalewski says the proposal would reduce per-credit hour pay by 7 percent -- from $973 to $900. That means pay for one three-credit class would drop from $2,919 to $2,700.
Kowalewski says the proposal still need the approval of the school's board of trustees. If approved, the cuts would become effective in the 2009-10 school year.
Adjunct professors work on a per-class basis and receive no benefits. They teach about 15 percent of WSU classes.
So far, no cuts in pay are proposed for full-time faculty.
