SALT LAKE CITY — Gunshots fired during a road rage incident shut down the northbound lanes of Bangerter Highway near 1300 South for a time on Friday, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.

UHP said troopers responded to the area about 11:39 a.m., on reports of shots fired.

Trooper Takesha Durrant said the shots were the result of a road rage encounter, but no injuries have been reported.

UHP later said the incident was between two people, who were both cooperating with law enforcement.

Durrant also noted that added that the incident occurred in "a few different areas."

The lanes have since reopened.

UHP said there is no outstanding threat to the public, and the incident remains under investigation.
